Meet the Director

Rev Abednego M. Kam

Reverend Abednego Mairiga Kam, JP, MELI, assumed office as Director of the People Oriented Development (POD) of ECWA on January 1, 2025, following his official appointment in November 2024. A devoted Christian and Nigerian from Bauchi State, he is currently in the final stage of his Ph.D. studies.

With over 25 years of teaching and pastoral ministry experience, Reverend Kam is a seasoned administrator, visionary leader, and catalyst for change. He has held several strategic leadership and administrative positions in both academic and ecclesiastical settings. Notably, he served as Rector of ECWA College of Education and Rector of ECWA Theological College, Bayara, where he demonstrated excellence in institutional leadership, capacity building, and community impact.

Beyond his ministerial and academic contributions, Reverend Kam has played a pivotal role in community development, interfaith dialogue, youth empowerment, and social advocacy. His outstanding service has earned him appointments and responsibilities at local, state, and national levels, including:

  • Executive Director, Society for Youth Development Initiative (SYODI), CAC Compliance (2007–2015)

  • Chairman, Bayara Community Development Association (2012–present) – spearheading community water projects, security initiatives, and local development

  • Chairman, Christian-Muslim Dialogue, Birshi Ward (2007–2009)

  • Coordinator, Jaar Bible Translation and Language Development (2015–2020)

  • Coordinator, Jar Land Project (2003–2012)

  • Secretary, Gwammadaji Christian Fellowship (2010–2023)

  • Secretary, Motkur Multipurpose Cooperative Ltd (2015–2023)

  • Secretary, Gwammadaji Community Development Association (2021–2023)

  • Member, Bauchi State Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Working Committee (2007–2008)

  • Member, Save the Children Advocacy, Birshi Ward (2007–2009)

  • Member, Child Protection Committee, Bayara (2007–2009)

In addition, Reverend Kam has attended numerous leadership seminars and workshops, both nationally and internationally, under the auspices of the NSA and SA. His intellectual interests include reading, advocacy, philosophy, and theology.

Through his lifelong commitment to ministry, education, and community service, Reverend Abednego Mairiga Kam continues to inspire transformational leadership, strengthen institutions, and advance holistic development in both church and society.
